{"id":1296,"date":"2021-12-03T20:20:40","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T20:20:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/desarro.io\/?p=1296"},"modified":"2023-10-01T16:41:03","modified_gmt":"2023-10-01T16:41:03","slug":"estudio-inversion-muertes-maternas-planificacion-familiar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/desarro.io\/en\/2021\/12\/03\/estudio-inversion-muertes-maternas-planificacion-familiar\/","title":{"rendered":"maternal deaths and family planning: investment needs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70);\" class=\"has-text-align-right wp-block-post-date\"><time datetime=\"2021-12-03T20:20:40+00:00\">December 3, 2021<\/time><\/div>\n\n\n<p>On behalf of UNFPA Peru, we prepared an article with interactive visualizations regarding the additional public investment needs to achieve goals in reducing preventable maternal deaths and addressing unmet family planning needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The study reveals that we could prevent 693 maternal deaths, 364 neonatal deaths, and 22,190 cases of anemia with an investment of just USD 61 million by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although maternal mortality has been declining, we are still far from reaching 33 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030 (we were at 57.9 in 2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"733\" height=\"440\" src=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-11.png 733w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-11-300x180.png 300w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-11-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Amazonian departments have the highest maternal mortality rates per 100,000 live births, and in some departments like Madre de Dios and Callao, maternal mortality has increased in recent decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"749\" height=\"560\" src=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3105\" srcset=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-12.png 749w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-12-300x224.png 300w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-12-16x12.png 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 749px) 100vw, 749px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, disparities in access to births attended by qualified personnel persist, based on educational level, rural or urban areas, and between Metropolitan Lima and the rest of the country. One in five women with no education or only primary education lacks access to institutional deliveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"735\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-13.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-13.png 735w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-13-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-13-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 735px) 100vw, 735px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In family planning, we have made significant progress in the use of total contraceptives, but there is still limited use of modern contraceptive methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"747\" height=\"469\" src=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-14.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-14.png 747w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-14-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/desarro.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/image-14-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 747px) 100vw, 747px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment study establishes scenarios for achieving goals in maternal mortality and family planning and selects a set of prioritized interventions based on their effectiveness and impact according to evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/FFzYuxFWUAg9z6R?format=png&amp;name=900x900\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the costs and benefits of achieving these goals are calculated.
